Our School

Welcome to Saint Mary Help of Christians community of faith and excellence.

Benedictine sisters from the St. Benedicts Monastery in St. Joseph began teaching in the school in St. Augusta in 1886, very early in the school’s history. Today, St. Mary Help of Christians School continues the tradition of excellence in Catholic education in our current building, which was built in 1964. Our K-6 community will give your child a solid foundation in academics and religion. Currently, St. Mary’s has grades kindergarten through 6. There are 127 students enrolled for the 2009-2010 school year. We are pleased to offer and excellent student to teacher ratio. Class sizes range from 12 to 24 students. Our school hours are 7:45 a.m. – 2:45 p.m.

With our focus toward educating the whole child, in addition to core classroom curriculum, St. Mary Help of Christians also offers students religion, art, physical education, music, band, library, and technology in our recently updated computer lab.

St. Mary Help of Christians School helps your child build a sense of compassion through our community projects such as Catholic Charities, Kids Against Hunger, and Anna Marie Alliance to name a few.

All student needs are addressed at St. Mary Help of Christians School. We implement student instruction with enrichment instruction or remediation based on students needs for success. Auxiliary staff and volunteers work with our teachers as part of our dedicated educational team.

We think we have something very special at St. Mary Help of Christians School, and we thank you for your interest in our school community. Please contact us if you have any further questions.

Blessings in Christ,
