6th Grade – Mrs. Pam Nydeen
Welcome to Sixth Grade at Saint Mary Help of Christians School.
Sixth grade at Saint Mary Help of Christians School promises
to be a year full of wonderful memories. We take pride and honor
in being wonderful role models for the other students in the building
while growing ourselves spiritually, academically, and socially.
Highlights of the sixth grade school year include serving mass,
sharing the meaning of Christmas by casting the Christmas program,
and helping to prepare for the Seder Meal during Lent. In our religion
class we focus on salvation history. We study many people and
events of the Old Testament and investigate the covenants that were formed.
Our days are filled gathering knowledge in many subject areas.
Our language arts time is spent reading novels and well as other
stories in our reading books while working on various forms of
writing including fables, letters, research papers, essays, and
digital presentations. In math we work on many concepts in order
to increase our awareness of algebraic functions. In social studies
we focus on ancient civilizations including Mesopotamia, Egypt, Greece,
and Rome. We also study the history of our state through a study of
Minnesota history. Our science time is spent studying mixtures and
solutions, models and designs, and food and nutrition. A highlight
of our year is our trip to Long Lake Conservation Center.
We are blessed to use our last year at Saint Mary Help of Christians
School to celebrate established relationships and build new ones.
We love spending time with the younger students whenever we can
and are proud of the comfortable relationship we have with each other.
We look forward to be known as alumni of St. Mary H.O.C.
